Abstract: Cloud finops (financial operations) is the practice of optimizing and managing the economic aspects of an organization’s cloud computing resources. It involves identifying cost-saving opportunities, implementing financial governance, and utilising data analytics to track and optimise spending. The goal of cloud finops is to ensure that an organisation’s cloud resources are utilised efficiently and effectively, while minimising waste and unnecessary spending. In this paper, we will review the key principles and practices of cloud FinOps, including cost optimisation strategies, financial governance frameworks, and data-driven decision-making. We will also discuss the benefits of adopting a cloud finops approach, including improved cost visibility, reduced waste, and better alignment with business goals.
